Through the American Rescue Plan (ARP), North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA) has awarded $214,750 to individual artists and $127,580 to arts organizations in North Dakota through Round 1 of the funding process. In addition, through a regional partnership with Arts Midwest, an additional $117,515 has been designated to ND arts organizations, also funded through partnership agreements with the National Endowment for the Arts.
Individuals and organizations, defined as those whose primary mission is to promote and provide connections through creative expression by sharing creative experiences, expressing their own creativity, or connecting people with their local and statewide communities through the arts, were eligible to receive funding. 155 applications totaling $1,774,555 in requests were received for Round 1, which made for a very competitive process.
The American Rescue Plan included funding for the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support organizations and jobs in the arts sector that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. NDCA received ARP funding from the NEA and will award approximately $700,000 to through two funding rounds.
The Round 2 application deadline is October 15, 2021.
NDCA ARP funds will assist individual artists in creating community-focused projects, workshops, and activities and support organizations as they pivot, rebuild, and continue to grow their missions.
